Trust YOUR Process

Trust- firm belief in the reliability, truth, ability, or strength of someone or something.

Process- a series of actions or steps taken in order to achieve a particular end.

Basically carrying out a long term task or goal to end with a nice outcome, even if there are hiccups or mistakes made before that good outcome.

I had to break down this phrase. To truly understand each word. Then put them back together. It’s funny because I have a tattoo with this phrase and today after years of having it, I truly took the time to understand it.

The 2 words that separate this phrase are THE or YOUR.

When we trust THE process, it’s something we might not have control of.

Example- we didn’t have much control of Arlie’s cancer. Cancer is a beast. We chose to trust the process. The doctors, the chemo, the schedule, the Transplant. As a whole we chose to trust the unknown for the outcome we were hoping for. Complete remission. Complete healing. Cancer gone! So we blindly walked the path-trusting. No control.
And let me tell you, it was SCARY. But I always had hope. Or at least that’s what Carried me through.

Now let’s replace THE with YOUR. It feels more controllable. It’s mine. I’m choosing my way. My path. How I envision the end result. I’m trusting my gut and letting it guide me in what feels right, for me.

I like this! The shut down helped me relearn and slowly get back control of our lives. To freely think about our futures, of course there were fears of the unknowns of health. But it was a start. A fresh start.

So here I was trusting the process to slowly trusting my process. If I could draw a picture of what that looked like it would be a path of wiggly, turny lines. Far from a straight one. Taking steps forward then back. Changing my mind. Unlearning. Changing my perspective and being confident to do what I want.

Wether you are trusting THE or YOUR- I just want you to know this. It humbles you, makes you stronger, makes you a better person if you take the lessons along the way instead of resent. It makes the chapters in your life book extra special. Something you and generations after you will look up too and maybe admire. You could give hope. You could make your space a better one.

Just trust it
